Internships

At Gehl, we pride ourselves on offering a genuine and integrated internship experience. This means we hire interns from a range of backgrounds matching your skills and experience with those of the team. Then, there are no meaningless tasks, you’ll be fully embedded in our team from day one. You’ll walk away from the internship with a suite of experiences and practical applications of Gehl’s life-first method — from behind the desk and out in the field. If you’re studying urban design, architecture, digital design, landscape architecture, social or data science, this might be the place for you!

My six months at Gehl was great!
I was able to get a better understanding of urbanism and systems thinking. Being exposed
to client conversations was a big learning curve. Today, rehired
as an Urban Designer, I am able
to put my skills into practice.

Tarek Salah, former intern and graduate of Politecnico Di Milano, now Urban Designer at Gehl

Summer internships US

Applicants should be recent graduates or entering their final year of studies in a masters program in urban design, urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture or other field related to design and behavior in cities. The position is full time for three months every summer (start and end dates are flexible). For applicants graduating the same year, successful internships may be extended up to six months to provide an opportunity for preferential consideration for appropriate full-time salaried positions, as they become available. We are especially interested in candidates that have experience working and studying at the intersection of spatial planning/design and social science, environmental policy, social equity, or public health.

Internships Copenhagen

In Copenhagen we encourage enrolled students to apply for six months internships from either August to February and from February to July. The internship can transition to a permanent position or a position as a part time student assistant. Candidates must have an active work-permit for Denmark/EU. We are especially interested in students with a background in architecture, landscape architecture, urban studies, digital design, social- or data science, who feel comfortable working in a fast paced environment and are quick to learn new processes and tools.

I had the chance to work on projects to develop active mobility and street space in the city core of Munich, urban analysis summaries around the stations of Copenhagen’s new Metro line M5 and mobility concepts for Dubai-based projects. My experience was very “hands on” and “feet on the ground”.
